Hollow Oak Press is a community of new and emerging voices in speculative fiction. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for authors and readers to connect, and for stories to unfold in immersive and unique ways.
Amanda Pica, Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Amanda is a speculative fiction writer and founder of Hollow Oak Press. She is a dog-lover and peanut butter enthusiast who lives in a state of what-if. Amanda loves nothing more than when life bends around the corners of her expectations. Her work has been published by F(r)iction’s Dually Noted, Story Nook, and Wyld Flash, and she is a submissions editor and regular contributor to Humour Me Magazine.
She can be found on Bluesky and Instagram.
Jessica Ritchey, Associate Editor

Jessica enjoys all things with a touch of dark magic and spends as much time as she can daydreaming about life’s what ifs. As the daughter of a librarian, literature was the backbone of her youth and continues to be one of her greatest passions. She enjoys devouring stories from her favorite authors, which include Naomi Novik, Glenn Duncan, and Hannah Whitten. Aside from her love of books, Jessica can frequently be spotted consuming frightening amounts of caffeine, crocheting, pretending to have a green thumb, snuggling her fur babies, and playing chauffeur for her mini-mes.
She can be found on Twitter.
Austin Gray, Layout Editor

Austin is a writer with a focus on the fantastical. He finds joy in the new and the now, and seeing a fresh idea come to life. When he isn’t chugging coffee and writing in a dark corner, he can be found hiking or making music. His works can be found in Every Day Ficition and RockScissorsPaper. Some of his favorite authors are Stephen King, Guy Gavrial Kay, and Terry Pratchett.
He can be found on Instagram.
Scott Richards, Contributing Editor

Scott is the author of The Legend of Paper Monkey, and the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Humour Me Magazine. When he’s not immersed in his favorite role of being a dad, you can find him starting another side project. Scott is dedicated to making people laugh, and to helping others feel a little bit of sunshine in a bleak world.
I write speculative Christian fiction. I just found your website and got a bit excited, but not everyone knows what to do with Christian fiction (especially speculative). Is it a genre you you work with?
Hello Julia! Thank you for your question. We only publish fiction specific to our open anthology calls right now, but we do consider all subgenres of speculative fiction, as long as the story otherwise fits our currently open call. If you have a story that fits our current call (see our submission guidelines for more details), we’d like to read it!
